Harvest Festival in Maria Alm
“Hoagaschtn” in September
The Salzburg Harvest Festival stands for customs, traditions and culinary delights. As every year, the Harvest Festival in Maria Alm and the surrounding regions is perfect for sitting down, lingering and a spot of “Hoagaschtn”. In Salzburg, “Hoagascht” means to meet at quaint spot, to talk, tell and listen to stories, enjoy good food and drink, sing together and to make music.
Harvest Festival in Maria Alm: 2014 dates
The theme of this year’s Harvest Festival is “originally provincial and quaintly beautiful”. The Harvest Festival starts on 2 September with the 6th Maria Alm Dumpling Festival. Enjoy sweet and savoury dumplings on the village square with live music. The Hinterthal Harvest Festival on 13 September offers traditional Pinzgau delicacies, craftsmanship presentations, the original farmer’s market and a traditional Schuhplattler. There’s even more of that on 20 September, when the Maria Alm Harvest Festival takes place. Celebrate the ceremonial driving down of cattle from the mountain pastures into the valley with show grass cutting, the Schnalzer group and the traditional costume band of Maria Alm.
Numerous Harvest Festival events in and around Maria Alm offer rustic traditions and variety all September long.
